Above: Republican Senator John McCain and Oleh Tyahnybok: McCain went to Ukraine in December 2013 to demonstrate his public support for what was then the opposition. Perhaps without realizing it, he pals around with right-wingers like Oleh Tyahnybok, leader of the anti-Semitic Svoboda party, which has forged alliances with anti-Semitic and racists political organizations across Europe. In his speeches Oleh Tyahnybok has referred to "the Moscow-Jewish mafia ruling Ukraine" and has stated that "the Moskali, Germans, Kikes and other scum [want] to take away our Ukrainian state." Ihor Miroshnychenko, a Svoboda member of parliament has stated that "homosexuality provokes sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS." This type of talk could threaten your political career in America. Tyahnybok was re-elected to Ukraine's parliament in 2012 when his party won 38 seats. Readers voted him "Person of the Year" in Ukraine's top news magazine Bigoted right-wingers will be a force to be reckoned with in the "new Ukraine."
