There is currently palpable fear in Mubi area of Adamawa State, following reports that members of the highly feared Islamic sect, Boko Haram, are planning to take over the town and its environs.
Troops on peace mission in the volatile area have reportedly fled, leaving the residents at the mercy of the bloodthirsty men, says report.
Punch reports that the insurgents have already taken over Mararaba Hildi, some few kilometres to Mubi town, prompting a mass exodus of the troops.
The insurgents were also said to have attacked Uba Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Tuesday night.
According to a resident, in Kala, some kilometres to Mubi, soldiers were seen leaving with their armoured cars and rifles in escape from the advancing Boko Haram insurgents.
