It's almost inevitable that the media and police will attempt to blame the police brutality protests for "creating an anti-police atmosphere" instead of the police and media blaming bad policing and the killing of unarmed civilians. You can expect the police union to blame the mayor for not supporting killer cops and will press their demand that the mayor not attend the funerals of the police officers.

2 NYC officers dead in ambush-style shooting

Two New York City police officers have died after being shot ambush-style in their parked patrol car Saturday, according to multiple media reports.
An armed man walked up to the vehicle and opened fire before fleeing to a nearby subway station where he apparently committed suicide, police said.

The officers died after being rushed to Woodhull Medical Center, City Councilman Robert Cornegy told reporters, according to CBS New York.
At least one of the officers was shot in the head, police said.
