Robin Thicke attempted to stave off the pending lawsuit over "his" Blurred Lines song by launching a preemptive lawsuit against Marvin Gaye's family. The legal maneuver failed terribly when the Gaye family was awarded $7.4 million by a jury for ripping of the Marvin Gaye hit, Got To Give Up. The Gaye family has an even better case against Thicke's Million Dollar Baby, which is a direct ripoff of Marvin Gaye's Trouble Man. Thicke and his producers seem to have an obsession with Marvin Gaye. They would have been better off simply sampling Gaye's music and paying for the rights up front.
_____________
If Million Dollar Baby is not a full scale jacking of Marvin Gaye's Trouble Man,
then there is no such thing as plagiarism
