Rupert Murdoch's 'New York Post' and Police Target NYPD Officer Who Spoke Out on Eric Garner — Lawsuit

The New York Post excoriated a retired cop who publicly decried the chokehold death of Eric Garner as a murder, he claims in a $200 million federal lawsuit.

Corey Pegues made the comments about Garner in an August 2014 appearance on the "Combat Jack Show," a podcast his April 8 lawsuit describes as targeting black males "who embrace the hip hop culture."
RELATED STORY: New York City Police Caught Editing Wikipedia Entries About Eric Garner and Other Victims of Police Brutality
The podcast aired as horrifying footage was going viral of Garner's death at the hands of Staten Island police the month before.

Though the New York City medical examiner ruled Garner's death a homicide, it would be several more months before the grand jury refused to indict Daniel Pantaleo, the police officer who maintained the fatal chokehold on Garner as he gasped repeatedly, "I can't breathe."

In his lawsuit, Pegues says he had appeared on the podcast because he had been lobbying for police reform ever since an on-the-job injury in 2011 forced him to retire from the New York City Police Department.

Talking about the various adversities he overcame to join the force in the 1990s, Pegues allegedly told podcast listeners about trouble he got into as a black youth while "running the streets" on the Southside of Jamaica, Queens.

Pegues said he served in the Army after getting a misdemeanor juvenile arrest dismissed and sealed in 1986, and joined the force after his honorable discharge.

On "Combat Jack," Pegues encouraged listeners that "your life does not have to define you or your future," the complaint states.

Nearly a month after this podcast appearance, Pegues says the New York Post featured him on its front page as a "Thug Cop" with a "shocking life of drugs and crime."

The splashy Sept. 8 headline allegedly prompted Nassau County Police Chief Thomas Krumpter to pull a "political favor" for New York City Police Chief Bill Bratton and other mostly white brass in the department to go to his home and seize his guns.

Pegues says Krumpter told a Post reporter, "This is my authority to do this and if [Pegues] doesn't like it, he can take me to court and sue me."

The Post did another "Gangsta cop" story about Pegues on Sept. 10, 2014, that quoted the retiree as saying his background made him better at his job, according to the complaint.

Why Does Rupert Murdoch's FoxNews Push For War With Syria? — He's Heavily Invested in a Israeli Corporation That Wants Syria's Shale Oil

“It’s libel to say I use my newspapers to support other business interests. The fact is, I haven’t got any other business interests.”
– Rupert Murdoch
Sorry, Roops, old sport? What about your interests in Genie Oil and Gas, Inc., which consists of American Shale Oil Corporation and an 89% interest in Israel Energy Initiatives, Ltd. in Israel?
RELATED STORY: Israel's Oil Grab In Syria: How 'Islamist' Rebels Helped Engineer It

Don’t you want people to learn that you are part-owner of an Israeli-American company which has landed a shale oil exploration and production license covering 238 square miles in the Judean Hills and on occupied Syrian land, even though this is plainly illegal under international law?

Should not FOX News and Murdoch-owned news outlets disclose this hot story to their millions of viewers and readers? Should they not be made aware that the Murdoch-owned news outlets which generally support U.S. military action against Syria, do not inform their viewers and readers that the bossman has a vested interest in war and the overthrow of the Assad government in Damascus in order to further Genie’s oil exploration efforts in occupied Syria?

Yes, Rupert Murdoch and his longtime pal Lord Jacob Rothschild are major shareholders in, (a joint 5.5 percent stake worth $11 million), and members of the Strategic Advisory Board of Genie Energy, – a spin-off company from telecoms group IDT Corp. (US ex- Vice President Dick Cheney is also a board member.)

Israel has granted Genie oil exploration in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, captured and annexed from Syria in the 1967 war. Genie plans to drill 10 exploratory wells over three years there, at a cost of $25-$30 million, even though the drilling of new wells – let alone fracking – by an occupying power is illegal.

According to Amiram Barkat of Israeli business publication Globes, “The company (Genie) believes that its shale oil cracking technology can free the world from dependence on Arab oil and turn Israel into an energy powerhouse able to produce 300 billion barrels of non-conventional oil at a cost of up to $40 per barrel.”

The Secret Saudi Ties to Terrorism — Support for Al Qaeda 'Right Up to the Eve of 9/11'

Zacarias Moussaoui

By Daniel Lazare
The U.S.-Saudi alliance is coming under unprecedented strain. Everything seems to be going wrong. Up in arms over growing Shi‘ite resistance in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Bahrain and Yemen, the ultra-Sunnis in Riyadh are alarmed that Obama continues to press ahead with arms negotiations in Teheran, from its viewpoint the center of the Shi‘ite conspiracy.

Saudis want the U.S. to overthrow Syria’s Assad in return for its cooperation in the fight against ISIS, yet Washington is signaling that it wouldn’t mind if the Baathists remain in power in Damascus a while longer. Similarities between Saudi methods and those of the Islamic State – both have a peculiar fondness for beheadings – are harder and harder to ignore. But with Saudi executions now running at triple the 2014 rate according to Amnesty International, the Saudis are pressing on regardless.

Even the kingdom’s decision to award a $200,000 prize to an Indian tele-preacher named Zakir Naik for “services to Islam” seems like a deliberate thumb in the eye of the United States. Naik, who has been banned from entering Canada or the U.K., is a Salafist nightmare who attacks evolution, defends al-Qaeda, and claims that George W. Bush was secretly responsible for 9/11. What is Riyadh’s point other than to flip Washington the bird?

But the ultimate body blow may prove to be Zacarias Moussaoui’s sensational testimony in an anti-Saudi lawsuit filed by 9/11 survivors. Now serving a life sentence in a federal supermax prison in Florence, Colorado, Moussaoui, the so-called “twentieth hijacker,” told lawyers about top-level Saudi support for Osama bin Laden right up to the eve of 9/11 and even a plot by a Saudi embassy employee to sneak a Stinger missile into the U.S. under diplomatic cover and use it to bring down Air Force One.

Moussaoui’s list of ultra-rich al-Qaeda contributors couldn’t be more stunning. It includes the late King Abdulllah and his hard-line successor, Salman bin Abdulaziz; Turki Al Faisal, the former head of Saudi intelligence and subsequently ambassador to the U.S. and U.K.; Bandar bin Sultan, a longtime presence in Washington who was so close to the Bushes that Dubya nicknamed him Bandar Bush; and Al-Waleed bin Talal, a mega-investor in Citigroup, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, the Hotel George V in Paris, and the Plaza in New York.

These are people whom a series of U.S. presidents have fussed and fawned over – not just Bushes I and II, but Obama, who bowed deeply at the waist upon meeting Abdullah in April 2009. Yet according to Moussaoui, the princes provided bin Laden with millions of dollars needed to engineer the deaths of nearly 3,000 people in Lower Manhattan.

Rupert Murdoch's propaganda machine has legitimized white supremacy, assisted the rise of the Tea Party, strengthened racist militias, and weakened gun laws. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

New Deal Could Give Rupert Murdoch More Cash For Time Warner Bid

By Gregory Katz

Analysts note 21st Century Fox, which has a strong presence in cable, broadcast, film, pay TV and other fields, could use the cash from the European TV deal to help fund its pursuit of Time Warner after the recent failure of an $80 billion offer.
Rupert Murdoch is calling on European outposts to help in his pursuit of Time Warner. The media mogul’s 21st Century Fox is poised to sell its Sky pay-TV arms in Italy and Germany to Fox’s British affiliate, British Sky Broadcasting. There’s strategic logic to the asset shuffle and the proceeds could help sweeten his $80 billion bid for the owner of CNN and Warner Bros. How Mr. Murdoch treats non-Murdoch owners is the linchpin.

This elaborate subplot, with its jostling factions and family ties, is evocative of “Game of Thrones,” the violent fantasy drama broadcast by Time Warner’s HBO. BSkyB could pay Fox 5.8 billion pounds, or $9.9 billion, for the two satellite companies, Berenberg analysts say. Given Time Warner’s resistance to Mr. Murdoch’s opening salvo last week, the extra cash should come in handy if he persists.

Fox owns all of Sky Italia, 57 percent of Sky Deutschland, and 39 percent of BSkyB. A full takeover of the British business, where Mr. Murdoch’s son James was once the chairman, by the Fox predecessor News Corporation was killed in 2011 by the phone-hacking scandal. That leaves Mr. Murdoch on both sides of the deal.

A probe of media mogul Rupert Murdoch might soon take shape in the United States upon reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has 80,000 emails in its possession seized from the servers of the tycoon’s News Corp headquarters.

The Daily Beast reported on Wednesday this week that “the FBI has copies of at least 80,000 emails taken from the servers at News Corp in New York,” prompting Britain’s Daily Mail to allege that new hacking allegations could be lobbed at Murdoch in the US as matters on the other side of the Atlantic near wrapping up.

According to reporters Nico Hines and Peter Jukes at the Beast, this correspondence is contained on a single compact disc and was obtained by the FBI during the just resolved, high-profile phone hacking case in the UK surrounding journalists employed by Murdoch’s since-shuttered News of the World paper. The journalists also allege that the message include communications sent up the chain of command by Murdoch protégée Rebekah Brooks, who was spared by a jury in London this week of involvement in the NOTW hacking scam.
