Donald Trump Accused of Raping 13-Year-Old Girl in Federal Lawsuit: Attack Said To Take Place In Home of Billionaire Registered Sex Offender

Donald Trump (left) is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl at the home of fellow billionaire Jeffery Epstein (who is currently a registered sex offender). Epstein was known for throwing sex parties with under-aged girls for his wealthy friends and has faced numerous lawsuits alleging rape of young girls. Trump now claims he had "no relationship" with Epstein, but once said that he knew Epstein for 15 years: "It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side."

By Emily Shugerman
The plaintiff alleges that, throughout the summer of 1994, she was imprisoned and raped at parties hosted by finance billionaire Jeffery Epstein.

Doe's attorney, Thomas Meagher, told Revelist that Doe left home at age 13 to attempt a modeling career in New York City. While struggling to get started in the industry, one of Epstein's associates—who has now submitted an affidavit in Doe's case against him—spotted her. The associate told Doe that she could be paid to attend parties hosted by Epstein, and that they would help to advance her career. She attended several such parties that summer.

Doe claims she encountered Trump at four of these parties, where he "initiated sexual contact" each time. In the fourth and final encounter, she alleges Trump tied her to the bed, exposed himself, and raped her.

"During the course of this savage sexual attack, Plaintiff loudly pleaded with Defendant Trump to stop but with no effect," the suit alleges. "Defendant Trump responded to Plaintiff's pleas by violently striking Plaintiff in the face with his open hand and screaming that he would do whatever he wanted."

After the encounter, the plaintiff alleges that Trump threatened to kill her family if she told anyone about it. Doe remained silent for 12 years, before this year's campaign made facing her past with Trump "unavoidable."

[...]

Jeffrey Epstein—the man accused of imprisoning Doe—also happens to be a registered sex offender, who has already been accused of keeping women as "sex slaves" for himself and his wealthy friends. Such influential friends include Bill Clinton, Stephen Hawking—and yes, Donald Trump.

Like most high-profile scumbags, Epstein kept a "little black book" of his clients and friends. Though Trump’s attorney claimed he had "no relationship” with Epstein, his notebook, obtained by the FBI, lists 14 contact numbers for the Republican candidate.Epstein even admitted to "socializing" with Trump while on trial in 2010. But he curiously plead the fifth when asked if he had ever socialized with the businessman around minor-aged girls.

Donald Trump Refuses To Disavow Support of White Supremacists — His Own Father Was KKK (Video)

The Times article listed the arrestee's address as 175-24 Devonshire Road in Jamaica Estates, Queens. Past local news reports noted that the Republican presidential frontrunner's father (pictured above, third from the left) lived at that address. Donald Trump's German immigrant grandfather, who anglicized his own name to Fred Trump, died nine years before the incident occurred.

The Bully Backs The Brat: Govenor Chris Christie Endorses Donald Trump

By Maggie Haberman
Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey endorsed Donald J. Trump on Friday, a major turn in a wild race and one that gives the New York businessman a major boost as he heads into the pivotal Super Tuesday contests.

Mr. Christie was a candidate for president himself until he came in sixth place in New Hampshire’s primary. Seeing his political career facing an abrupt conclusion following his failed presidential campaign, he expressed his anger Friday at Senator Marco Rubio, who he was said to be upset with, blaming the “super PAC” backing the Florida senator for halting his momentum in New Hampshire with a string of slash-and-burn ads.

The endorsement came a day after Mr. Rubio, in a withering debate performance, turned his guns on Mr. Trump for the first time, and followed up with his attacks on Friday morning, calling Mr. Trump a “con artist.”

At Friday’s news conference announcing the endorsement, which was peppered with demeaning insults of Mr. Rubio by the two men, Mr. Christie repeatedly attacked Mr. Rubio, calling his behavior at the debate “desperate” and reflective of a “losing campaign.”

Mr. Trump welcomed the endorsement with warm praise for the New Jersey governor.

The Glorification of Antonin Scalia: No One Dare Say What Needs to Be Said

"The object of their veneration was a black-robed thug and sadist who used his position on the bench to attack the basic civil liberties laid down in the US Constitution and Bill of Rights—separation of church and state; due process; protection from arbitrary arrest, search and seizure; the right to trial by jury; protection from cruel and unusual punishment; the right to vote..."

By Tom Carter, WSWS
The sickening tributes across the official US political and media spectrum to Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who died suddenly on Saturday at the age of 79, are a barometer of the putrefaction of American democracy.

The universal deference towards Scalia from what passes for the “liberal” faction of the establishment is particularly repulsive. The statements of the Democratic presidential candidates, the supposed “socialist” Bernie Sanders no less than Hillary Clinton—echoing similarly sycophantic drivel from the likes of the New York Times—are monuments to political cowardice.

One would say these people lack the courage of their convictions if they had any convictions to lack!

They have sprung into action to join their Republican counterparts in hailing Scalia as a towering figure in American jurisprudence. Virtually every description of the deceased justice includes the words “brilliant” and “intellectual.” One is reminded of the programmed acclamation of Sergeant Raymond Shaw recited by his brainwashed fellow soldiers in the film The Manchurian Candidate: “Raymond Shaw is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life.”

Sanders took time off from his hollow calls for a “political revolution” to demonstrate his political obeisance to the ruling class, declaring, “While I differed with Justice Scalia’s views and jurisprudence, he was a brilliant, colorful and outspoken member of the Supreme Court.”

Clinton praised Scalia as “a dedicated public servant who brought energy and passion to the bench.”

President Obama called Scalia a “towering legal figure.” The New York Times’ Ross Douthat hailed Scalia for “putting originalist principle above a partisan conservatism,” and for his “combination of brilliance, eloquence, and good timing.”

No one dares say what needs to be said. The object of their veneration was a black-robed thug and sadist who used his position on the bench to attack the basic civil liberties laid down in the US Constitution and Bill of Rights—separation of church and state; due process; protection from arbitrary arrest, search and seizure; the right to trial by jury; protection from cruel and unusual punishment; the right to vote.

His supposed juridical brilliance boiled down to starting with the political outcome he desired (invariably reactionary) and then cobbling together pseudo-legal arguments to justify his ruling—often with flagrant disregard for legal precedent and the unambiguous language of statutes and constitutional provisions.

In one case last year, Scalia argued that a police officer did not use “deadly force” when he climbed onto an overpass and used an assault rifle to kill an unarmed man fleeing in a car. According to Scalia’s reasoning, it was not deadly force because the officer claimed to have been aiming at the car, not the person in the car.

Perhaps the most infamous example of this method—absurdly described in the media as “constitutional originalism”—was the 2000 Supreme Court decision Scalia engineered to halt the counting of votes in Florida and hand the White House to the loser of the election, Republican candidate George W. Bush.

The 5-4 decision to steal the election all but acknowledged its own speciousness when it declared that the justifications it advanced could not be applied to any future cases. In his separate concurring opinion, Scalia declared that the Constitution did not give the people the right to elect the president.

At the time of the theft of the 2000 elections, the World Socialist Web Site wrote that the Supreme Court’s decision to stop the counting of votes, and the acceptance of that ruling by the Democrats and the entire political establishment, demonstrated that there was no longer any significant constituency for democratic rights within the American ruling class. The reaction to Scalia’s death is a measure of the further erosion of democratic sentiment in the ruling elite.

Scalia personified the decay of bourgeois democracy in the United States over a protracted period of time. Appointed to the bench by Ronald Reagan, he flourished and exerted increasing influence in the decades of political reaction, militarism and Wall Street criminality that ensued, continuing without a hitch under Obama. Not only in the anti-democratic substance of his rulings, but also in his methods and bearing, he embodied the promotion by the ruling elite of backwardness, prejudice and outright cruelty.

He was corrupt and made no bones about his corruption, proudly voting to remove limits on corporate bribes in elections and flaunting his private outings with Vice President Dick Cheney while the latter was a party in a case before the court. He was a bully, making a practice of baiting and harassing lawyers who came before him.

Throughout his career, Scalia consistently advocated positions that can only be described as barbarous and fascistic. Fittingly, his last judicial act was to deny a stay of execution. He was a figure who relished the power and trappings of the state, openly defending torture and internment camps.

Scalia worked tirelessly to break down constitutional and democratic limits on state power, infiltrating fascistic doctrines into Supreme Court jurisprudence. His theory of executive power, according to which the American president has unlimited and unreviewable powers for the duration of the “war on terror,” resurrects Nazi jurist Carl Schmitt’s “state of exception” doctrine in all but name.

Scalia’s mere presence on the court testified to the advanced decay of American democracy. That decay is linked, on the one hand, to the extreme growth of social inequality, accompanied by the rampant parasitism and criminality of the ruling class, and on the other hand to unending war, which has its domestic reflection in the build up of the repressive state apparatus that Scalia championed.

The bitterness of the disputes over his replacement is a reflection of the importance of his role in American politics over three decades during which the political establishment shifted violently to the right.

The deference shown to such a figure from all quarters of the political establishment should be taken as a warning by the working class. The ruling elite fears above all the growth of social opposition and class struggle. It exalts the legacy of Scalia because it is preparing police state methods to defend its power and property against an insurgent working class.

Judge orders Cliven Bundy held, citing 'ongoing defiance of federal court orders'

By Maxine Bernstein
A federal judge Tuesday ordered Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy to remain in custody pending trial on a complaint stemming from his 2014 standoff with federal agents trying to round up his cattle grazing on public land.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Janice M. Stewart found Bundy, 69, remains a danger to the community and a risk to flee, citing his "ongoing defiance of federal court orders.''

Bundy is expected to return to Nevada for his next court appearance, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Nevada.

He was arrested by FBI agents last Wednesday night after he flew into Portland International Airport.

Bundy had come to Portland intending to protest against the continued detention of his sons, Ammon Bundy, 40, and Ryan Bundy, 43, and their co-defendants, stemming from their armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. He also planned to travel to the refuge outside of Burns to support four occupiers still there. That changed when FBI agents swept in and took him into custody at the airport shortly after he landed at 10:10 p.m.

A six-count federal complaint out of Nevada charges Cliven Bundy with conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States, assault on a federal law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, interference with commerce by extortion and two counts of carrying a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.

The complaint alleges that Bundy and four unnamed co-conspirators organized and led a massive armed assault against federal officers in and around Bunkerville, Nevada, in April 2014 to thwart them from seizing and removing 400 cattle on public land.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven W. Myhre argued that Cliven Bundy is "lawless and violent,'' drawing supporters to his ranch to prevent federal officers from doing their job.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia — The Truth: One of the Most Right-Wing and Regressive Voices

The longest-serving Justice on the current court was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1986 and was known as one of its most right-wing and regressive voices

By Jon Queally
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead on Saturday, reportedly of natural causes, at a high-end resort in Texas.

Citing an "El Paso source close Scalia," local affiliate ABC 7 reported "that the 79-year-old died in his sleep last night after a day of quail hunting at Cibolo Creek Ranch outside of Marfa, Texas."

Subsequently, Texas Governor Greg Abbott released a statement confirming Scalia's death.

Scalia—the longest-serving Justice on the current court was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1986—was known as one of its most right-wing and regressive voices.

Though much of the mainstream media immediately dove into the praising Scalia's notable accomplishments, a number of his critics took to social media in order to ensure the numerous destructive aspects of his legal legacy—despite the predictable calls that such discussions are somehow impolite—were not locked out of the discussion.

From the San Francisco Chronicle:
According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.

Chief U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia, of the Western Judicial District of Texas, was notified about the death from the U.S. Marshals Service.

U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death.

"I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's very unfortunate. It's unfortunate with any death, and politically in the presidential cycle we're in, my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."

The U.S. Marshal Service, the Presidio County sheriff and the FBI were involved in the investigation. Officials with the law enforcement agencies declined to comment.

A federal official who asked not to be named said there was no evidence of foul play and it appeared that Scalia died of natural causes.

Though much of the mainstream press was quickly lining up on Saturday to offer glowing commemorations of his career as a public servant, many on Twitter wanted to be sure that his destructive judicial legacy was not completely whitewashed. At the same time, others began taking stock of the political implications of the now vacant seat on the nation's highest court:

The father of two men who were among the occupiers of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and are now in jail, was himself arrested in Portland, Ore., Wednesday night.

Cliven Bundy, a Nevada rancher prominent in protests to end federal control of western lands, is being held in the Multnomah County Detention Center. His sons Ammon and Ryan were arrested Jan. 27 and are there as well.

According to the charging document against Bundy, the rancher is charged with conspiracy, assault on a federal law enforcement officer, "the use and carry of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence," obstruction or justice, extortion, and aiding and abetting.

The charges date back to the 2014 standoff near Bundy's Nevada ranch; the timeframe listed in the federal complaint continues until today. He is due to appear in federal court in Portland at 1:30 p.m. (local time).

Shortly after the charges against Bundy were announced, David Fry, the last of the four holdouts occupying the refuge, reportedly surrendered.

Republicans HATE Unions and Their Members: Yet Many White Union Members Keep Voting For Republicans

A Huge Coal Miners’ Pension Plan is on the Brink of Failure. One Senator is Blocking a Fix.

Despite bipartisan support for a plan to save the workers' retirement and healthcare, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stands in the way
By
When Sen. Mitch McConnell strode into the Capitol for last month’s State of the Union speech, he took with him a guest whose presence was sure to be seen as a slap against the Obama administration and its policies on coal.

“I brought along this unemployed coal miner here,” McConnell (R-Ky.) said, gesturing to fourth-generation mineworker Howard Abshire, “to see the person who put him out of work.”

The Senate majority leader said he wanted to call attention to President Obama’s “heartless” regulations that he argues have devastated communities in Abshire’s native eastern Kentucky. Yet just weeks earlier, McConnell’s office had delivered its own blow to Appalachian coal towns: It blocked efforts to rescue health and pension funds on which thousands of retired and disabled miners rely.

A plan that would ensure the solvency of the funds nearly made it through Congress in December as part of the bipartisan budget deal that cleared both chambers. But the bailout attempt — backed by key lawmakers from both political parties — was excluded from the deal at McConnell’s request, according to four Senate officials directly familiar with the events.

McConnell’s spokesman does not dispute that telling of events. And McConnell has not publicly explained his opposition to the measure.

Legislators from coal states had pressed for federal help to prevent what some have described as a looming national crisis: The United Mine Workers of America’s retirement and health-care funds currently support about 120,000 former miners and their families nationwide, but the account balances have rapidly declined as some coal companies shed dues-paying workers and others filed for bankruptcy protection. Without intervention, some of the funds — chiefly those associated with firms in bankruptcy — could run out of cash before spring, Congressional officials say.

McConnell has repeatedly clashed with the UMWA, the union that administers the funds. Two years ago, UMWA officials donated heavily to his political rival, Democrat Alison Grimes, during McConnell’s successful reelection bid.

During December’s bipartisan budget agreement, his stance was clear.

“It was a no-go issue for McConnell,” said a senior Senate aide with direct knowledge. Three other Democratic congressional officials confirmed his opposition to the measure. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity citing the sensitive nature of the budget negotiations.

Marco Rubio Is the Fakest of the Bunch: Attacks Obama for Reaching Out To American Muslims

The Chameleon
Adapted by Ronald David Jackson from Carlo Allegri.

______________

Rubio’s Foul Response to Obama’s Mosque Speech: Straining to Find “Division” in a Call for Unity

By
President Obama visited the Islamic Society of Baltimore yesterday and gave an interesting speech about Muslims in America, religious freedom, and tolerance in an age of terror-related panic. The core of Obama’s message was that Muslim Americans are no less American than anyone else, and the recent spike in anti-Muslim discrimination is anathema to a society that values religious freedom. “It’s a challenge to our values — and that means we have much work to do,” Obama said. “We’ve got to tackle this head on. We have to be honest and clear about it. And we have to speak out. This is a moment when, as Americans, we have to truly listen to each other and learn from each other.”

This is actually the second time in recent months that Obama has made a big speech about the dangers of discrimination against Muslims in America. Back in December, in an address from the Oval Office, Obama said “it is the responsibility of all Americans – of every faith – to reject discrimination. It is our responsibility to reject religious tests on who we admit into this country. It’s our responsibility to reject proposals that Muslim Americans should somehow be treated differently. Because when we travel down that road, we lose.”

Messages and tolerance and inclusion have been a key part of the White House’s response to rising concern over Islamic State-linked terrorist attacks, and he’s used them as an appeal to national unity in a time of unease and fear. “None of us can be silent,” he said yesterday in Baltimore. “We can’t be bystanders to bigotry. And together, we’ve got to show that America truly protects all faiths.”

It’s tough to find something to disagree with here, but Marco Rubio somehow found a way, responding to the president’s Baltimore speech with one of the ugliest and most nonsensical attacks I’ve ever seen from a supposedly mainstream presidential candidate. Here’s what Rubio said:

“I’m tired of being divided against each other for political reasons like this president’s done,” Rubio said. “Always pitting people against each other. Always.”

“Look at today – he gave a speech at a mosque,” Rubio continued. “Oh, you know, basically implying that America is discriminating against Muslims. Of course there’s going to be discrimination in America of every kind. But the bigger issue is radical Islam. And by the way, radical Islam poses a threat to Muslims themselves.”

“But again, it’s this constant pitting people against each other — that I can’t stand that. It’s hurting our country badly,” Rubio said.

So, according to the rising favorite of the Republican Party establishment, the very act of giving a speech in a mosque – not the content of the speech, not its tone, but the thing itself – is an act of division. Why? Because the president, by setting foot in a Muslim house of worship, is “basically implying that America is discriminating against Muslims.” So the “division” here, per Rubio, is between people who acknowledge the observable reality that Muslims face discrimination, and people who choose to deny that such discrimination exists. Rubio himself is one of those people – after Obama’s Oval Office speech in December, Rubio attacked Obama as “cynical” for addressing Islamophobia, asking: “Where is there widespread evidence that we have a problem in America with discrimination against Muslims?” (The evidence is literally everywhere.)

White Terrorism: Law Enforcement's Equipment Supplier Turns Out To Be Pipe Bomb Manufacturing Right-Winger (Video)

Bomb Maker Michael Ramos was manufacturing body armor for law enforcement organizations.

By Tom Boggioni
Florida man who claims to be a member of the “United States Patriot Army” was taken into custody on Monday after a business partner spotted pipe bombs in his Tampa home.

Michael Ramos was arrested by ATF agents who recovered the bombs along with tear gas canisters and smoke bombs when they raided his house, reports Tampa Fox 13.

According to authorities, Ramos is one of the founders and president of Patriot Armor, Inc. — a company that manufactures body armor and sells it to law enforcement officers and firefighters. His partner, Kenneth Ray O’Neill, contacted authorities after seeing the pipe bombs in Ramos’ house and asking about them.

Ramos reportedly told his partner that he made the bombs himself using materials purchased at Home Depot and through Amazon.com. He stated that he had inserted bird-shot into them, adding “it would kill the neighbors if one of the bombs went off.”

According to an affidavit, O’Neill confronted Ramos before reporting him — telling him he needed to get rid of the bombs or he would contact the police, to which Ramos replied,”so you’re going to put me in jail?”

When O’Neill contacted him later and asked if he had destroyed the bombs, Ramos reportedly explained that he hadn’t because he didn’t know how to and was too scared to get rid of them.

Donald Trump Admits He Was Lying About Building Fence on the Border With Mexico

By Bethania Palma Markus
Donald Trump admitted that he brings up the implausible idea of building an even bigger “wall” between the United States and Mexico than the one that already exists just to get applause from a sleepy audience.diss

The GOP front runner, real estate tycoon and television reality star told the New York Times‘ editorial board he uses the line to wake up an audience that starts looking a little bored. The Times slammed Trump in a Saturday editorial that called Trump and his main rival, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, “objectionable for different reasons.”

“You know,” he told the Times writers, “if it gets a little boring, if I see people starting to sort of, maybe thinking about leaving, I can sort of tell the audience, I just say, ‘We will build the wall!’ and they go nuts.”

Trump’s candid admission is yet another in which he seems to allude that his supporters are, at best, uncritical.

Last week, Trump said he could murder someone in cold blood and not lose any of his loyal followers.

“They say I have the most loyal people,” Trump at a rally in Iowa, “Where I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters, okay? It’s like incredible.”

While the Times notes that Trump’s supporters don’t care what he says, “[w]hat they may not know is how deliberately he is currying their favor.”

This week, Trump supporter Karen Bruno said that she is so angry with politics in this country that no matter what Trump says, she will support him.

Seven Oregon Occupiers Arrested, One Person Killed in Confrontation With Police

By Sarah Kaplan
Seven people involved in the armed occupation of a central Ore. wildlife refuge were arrested after a traffic stop during which shots were fired. Another unnamed individual was killed during the confrontation, the FBI and Oregon State Police announced Tuesday.

Authorities said that shots were exchanged during a traffic stop along Highway 395 around 4:25 p.m. local time. Police were carrying out a federal probable cause arrest for a number of people involved in the armed standoff at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, which has been occupied since Jan. 2.

The Oregon State Police said Tuesday night that an incident team has been dispatched to investigate the officer-involved shooting. No law enforcement personnel were injured in the confrontation about 15 miles north of Burns, Ore.

Five people were arrested at that time, including occupation leaders Ammon and Ryan Bundy. One person was killed during the exchange of gunfire.

A sixth person involved in the occupation, Joseph Donald O’Shaughnessy of Cottonwood, Ariz., was arrested about an hour and a half after the initial confrontation. Shortly after that, a seventh person — Peter Santilli of Cincinnati, Ohio, who is known for live streaming refuge events — was arrested in Burns.

All of people arrested face federal felony charges for conspiracy to impede federal officers.

White Terrorist in Oregon Get Into Shootout With Law Enforcement — At Least One 'Militiaman' Dead

Ammon Bundy, leader of the wildlife refuge occupiers, was among the six armed white terrorists arrested after a shootout. At least one terrorist was killed and another wounded.

By Aviva Shen
Six members of the militia occupying the Malheur National Refuge, including Ammon Bundy, were taken into custody Tuesday night following a shooting nearby, according to the FBI.

The Harney County District Hospital in Burns, Oregon is on lockdown, and a section of the highway is also closed. The altercation occurred at about 4:25 PM local time, when the militia was on its way to a meeting in John Day, a neighboring town.

The FBI released a statement confirming that one militant died in a shootout. Another militant sustained “non life-threatening” injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Bundy and his militia have been occupying the federal property since the beginning of January, and law enforcement has been hesitant to remove them. But conflicts with local residents have escalated recently; members of the occupation have torn down their fences and reportedly vandalized other property in the town. Locals have grown angrier at the lack of action to remove the militia.

Sarah Palin’s Abusive Kid Never Saw A Day Of Combat: He Has No 'PTSD' — Maybe Just Delusions Inherited From His Mom

"Using PTSD as a pity card is so wrong. Domestic violence and PTSD are heavy-duty issues, and they deserve the respect Palin says Obama denied her son."—Gloria Christie

When the half-term Alaska governor, Sarah Palin (R) blamed President Obama for her drunken son’s attack on his girlfriend, I thought that she was over the edge, but what else is new? Now, if Track Palin, 26, has PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), it originated with her mothering, not the military. Why? Palin’s woman-beating son may never have seen combat duty in Iraq.

Sarah Palin Blames President Obama for How Veterans are Treated

Track is just an a**hole who still lives with mommy. He was busted on domestic abuse charges, when his girlfriend told police that he punched her in the eye, kicked her in the knee, and then held an AR-15 assault rifle near his head.

According to the police report, Track was:
‘Holding onto a gun, yelling ‘do you think I’m a pu**y?’ and ‘do you think I won’t do it.’
The unidentified woman said he “cocked the gun” and was holding it near his face. Police found the rifle was empty of ammunition.

Using PTSD as a pity card is so wrong. Domestic violence and PTSD are heavy-duty issues, and they deserve the respect Palin says Obama denied her son. Between 10 and 20 percent of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom vets have PTSD in a given year:

In her Tulsa, Oklahoma Trump rally last week, the reality star mom lied out of both sides of her mouth about her son’s lone year in Iraq:
‘My son, a combat veteran … was fighting for you all, America, in the war zone. My son, like so many others, came back a bit different, they come back hardened.’

‘So when my own son is going through what he goes through coming back, I can certainly relate with other families who kind of feel these ramifications of some PTSD and some of the woundedness that our soldiers do return with.’
Hold on, Mama Grizzly. People have been questioning Track’s service record ever since he returned from the military. A rumor that dogs him is the courts gave him the choice of the military or jail, after he allegedly cut the brakes on a school bus. Given the choice, he enlisted in 2007.

Ted Cruz's Campaign Chairman is a FAKE 'War Hero' — Resume Contained Pack of Lies About Military Service

Republican lawmaker who’s serving as chairman of Sen. Ted Cruz’s campaign in Washington state is either unwilling or unable to verify that he is a decorated combat veteran.

State Rep. Graham Hunt (R-Orting), who was elected in 2014 to the legislative seat to which he was appointed the year before, listed three medals on his official and campaign biographies that a military personnel center has no record of him receiving, reported The Seattle Times.

A military spokeswoman pointed out to the newspaper that the personnel center’s records are sometimes incomplete — but Hunt has been quietly deleting some details about his service record from online biographies since reporters have begun to press him for more information.

Hunt, who traveled out of state earlier this month to meet with armed militants who are occupying an Oregon wildlife refuge, says he was “wounded in combat” but has offered only vague details about what happened.

The lawmaker said he was knocked down by explosions but can’t remember where, and he also claims he cannot remember which units he deployed with to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Hunt deleted a Facebook post in 2015 that showed a dramatic photo of a U.S. soldier consoling another that, according to a caption, showed the lawmaker after a 2005 mortar attack, with additional text claiming he “KNOWS THE SACRIFICE” and “STILL FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY.”

“I think combat camera captured the moment pretty well,” the post said. “I surely have not forgotten that moment.”

The image, however, was an Associated Press photo from 2003 that showed two Ohio soldiers — but one of their U.S. Army insignias had been replaced with an Air Force staff sergeant patch.

Hunt later removed the post and said a campaign volunteer had posted it, but the lawmaker says he accepts “full responsibility” for the social media post.

The lawmaker deleted references last month to the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal after the newspaper questioned him about the awards — which military officials say do not appear on his service record.

He also stopped describing himself in the online biographies as a “combat veteran” of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bitter White Minority in the South Ended Up With Huge Power in Washington — They Now Run Congress and Propel Trump

Today's Republican Party stems from the racist whites who wanted to keep blacks segregated, terrorized and powerless.
Today's Republican Party stems from the racist whites who
wanted to keep blacks segregated, terrorized and powerless.
By Paul Rosenberg
Donald Trump’s recent failed attempt to surprise the political world with a sizable group endorsement by black ministers occasioned a very sharp observation from Joy Reid on The Last Word. After Jonathan Allen noted that Trump was desperately looking for “a racial or ethnic or any other type of minority that he can go to and not already have basically poisoned the well,” Reid helpfully clarified the why of it all: “Republican primary, that’s not about black and Latin voters, because there really aren’t any in the Republican primary,” Reid said. “That’s about white suburban voters who want permission to go with Donald Trump.”

Trump’s situation is anything but unique—it’s just a bit more raw than it is with other Republicans. Ever since the 1960s, as Richard Nixon’s Southern Strategy was being born, there’s been a ongoing dilemma (if not huge contradiction) for the erstwhile “Party of Lincoln” to manage: how to pander just enough to get the racist votes they need, without making it too difficult to deny that’s precisely what they’re doing.

There are a multitude of cover stories involved in facilitating this two-faced strategy, but one of the big-picture ways it gets covered is with a blanket denial: It wasn’t Nixon’s race-based Southern Strategy that got the GOP its current hammerlock on the South, it was something else entirely. Say, the South’s growing affluence, perhaps, or its “principled small-government conservatism,” or the increased “leftism” of the Democratic Party on “social issues”—anything, really, except racial animus. Anything but that. (It’s akin to the widespread beliefs that the Civil War wasn’t fought over slavery, or that the Confederate flag is just a symbol of “Southern pride.”)

Most who make such arguments are simply mired in denial, or worse, but there are several lines of argument seemingly based on objective data in the academic literature. But a new National Bureau of Economic Research working paper that Sean McElwee recently referred to should put an end to all that.

“Why did the Democrats Lose the South? Bringing New Data to an Old Debate,” by Ilyana Kuziemko and Ebonya Washington, does three key things: First, it uses previously overlooked data—matching presidential approval against media coverage linking President Kennedy to civil rights—to shed light on a key transition period—broadly, from 1961-1963, narrowly, the spring of 1963—when the Democratic Party clearly emerged as the party of civil rights. Second, it uses another new source of data—responses to the “black president question” (first asked by Gallup in 1958), whether someone would support a black (originally “negro”) candidate for president, if nominated by their party—as a measure of “racial conservatism” to analyze the contrast between the pre- and post-transition periods.

As McElwee reported, the paper “find[s] that racism can explain almost all of the decline of Southern white support for Democrats between 1958 and 2000.” Indeed, it explains all of the decline from 1958 to 1980, and 77% of the decline through 2000. (The authors prefer the 1958-1980 time-frame, since Jesse Jackson’s candidacy in 1984 and 1988 “may have transformed the black president item from a hypothetical question to a referendum on a particular individual.”) Third, the paper looks at the other explanations—the cover stories—and finds they have only a marginal impact, at best. (Although its focus is Southern realignment away from the Democratic Party, the GOP has obviously been gaining strength at the same time as a direct result.) It also sheds light on an early phase of dealignment, starting when Truman first came out for civil rights in 1948, leading to the Dixiecrat revolt.

Before turning to the paper itself, I want to recall a point I made last year: so-called “principled conservatism” is itself heavily determined by anti-black attitudes. Southern racial conservatives had been closely tied to the Democratic Party for generations before Truman came out for civil rights in 1948, but the 1960s stand out as a decisive turning point. Among other things, I pointed out (a) that George Wallace himself had disavowed explicit racism by the end of 1963, turning to a classic articulation of anti-government/anti-“elite” conservative themes, (b) that there are both international and U.S. data showing that welfare state support declines as minority populations increase, and (c) that even attitudes related to spending to fight global warming are strongly influenced by anti-black stereotypes.

Oregon Standoff: Grant County Sheriff Urges Release of Hammonds

By Les Zaitz
Sheriff Glenn Palmer said in an email his meetings with militants didn't include Ammon Bundy, leader of the occupation.

BURNS – Leaders of the armed protesters holding the national bird sanctuary on Tuesday plan to push their anti-government agenda in Grant County, whose sheriff recommends the government give in to two of their key demands.
RELATED STORY: When Unarmed Blacks Tried To Occupy A Wildlife Refuge They Were Forcibly Removed and Arrested
Sheriff Glenn Palmer said in a statement to The Oregonian/OregonLive that "the government is going to have to concede something" to end the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

He said freeing a father-son ranching team from prison "would be a start. Sending the FBI home would be a start." He referred to the FBI's lead role in ending the refuge occupation.

"I just pray to God that cooler heads prevail and that no one gets killed," Palmer said.

The sheriff's endorsement of the militants' demands stunned law enforcement officials, most of whom would not publicly discuss the matter.

Malheur County Sheriff Brian Wolfe, who has been helping in Burns, said Palmer's position "doesn't help the cause. If anything, it hampers the effort to end this."

Donald Trump Admits His Supporters Are Psychotic — 'I Could Shoot Somebody And They'd Still Vote For Me'

By Steve Holland and Ginger Gibson
U.S. Republican front-runner Donald Trump expressed confidence on Saturday that he could push back attempts by his rivals to knock him off his top perch, saying he could stand on New York's Fifth Avenue "and shoot somebody," and still not lose voters.
[..]

Trump, the New York billionaire and former reality TV star who has been virtually impervious to attacks from his opponents, pushed the limits of his political rhetoric again in Sioux Center, Iowa.

"I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters," he said.

Trump has been a difficult target for criticism from his rivals because not all of his supporters are conservatives and many are most interested in his projection of strength, not where he stands on a particular issue.
