The Mysterious Case of the 'Dancing Israelis'

A resident living in an apartment building in New Jersey directly across the river from Manhattan's World Trade Center witnessed several men in a nearby parking lot taking photographs, video taping and celebrating as they watched the twin towers tumble to the ground on September 11, 2001.  The police were called and a dragnet was put in place for a white van driven by "Arabs seen celebrating the demise of the World Trade Center." At the time it was assumed the celebrants might be somehow connected to the terror attack — after all, they were seen celebrating the attack.

The five individuals pictured above were subsequently arrested. The van they were driving was reportedly found to have traces of explosives, they had maps highlighting the World Trade Center as well as the location where they were seen celebrating, and the arresting officers said they were behaving suspiciously.  Later, a police report showed the van's occupants lied about where they were when the jets hit the twin towers. The van they were driving was owned by New Jersey-based Urban Moving Systems, later identified as a front company for Israel's intelligence service, Mossad. The owner of Urban Moving Systems, Dominick Suter, fled back to Israel before he could be apprehended, and the FBI confiscated computers and other items in a raid on his offices.  The materials captured in the raid have been "classified."

Other white trucks and vans were intercepted that day, including one reportedly "packed with  explosives" which was stopped near the George Washington Bridge, and one with a mural depicting the World Trade Center under attack by an airliner. It was speculated that the van with the twin tower attack mural was a "decoy" designed to draw attention.

During FBI interrogations all five of the "Dancing Israelis" failed polygraph tests. But after much behind-the-scenes pressure by the Israeli government they were released after 71 days, reportedly under orders of Michael Chertoff who was then head of the Justice Department's Criminal Division.

Upon their return to Israel, some of the "Dancing Israelis" appeared on an Israeli talk show. During the show, which has been posted on YouTube, one of them said, "The fact of the matter is, we are coming from a country that experiences terror daily. Our purpose was to document the event."  Was this a slip of the tongue or a merely bad translation of what he really meant?

If witnesses and FBI documents are to be believed, the "Dancing Israelis" shed no tears for the people who died in the twins towers that day — instead they celebrated it. Strange behavior indeed for agents in the employ of a country the U.S. has supported and defended through thick and thin. Shouldn't they have been at least as shocked and heartbroken over the events of 911 as most other citizens of the world?

The clear implication regarding the behavior of the "Dancing Israelis" is that elements within the Israeli government—and/or elements within the U.S. government—had foreknowledge of the 911 attacks and did not provide a warning to the people who went to work at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. That would make them culpable in that war crime, whether they planned, funded, or designed the operation themselves or simply detected it and let it happen.


Why would elements within the American and Israeli governments welcome a terror attack on America on the scale of 911? Many theories have been advanced. The top three: 1) The 911 attacks eased the implementation the "Rebuilding of America's Defenses" plan, a plan developed by an organization called the Project for the New American Century (PNAC).^* The plan was outlined in a PNAC document which argued that only a "catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor" would galvanize the public behind the "Project for the New American Century," which called for the violent establishment of a vastly expanded and long-lasting global American empire. One year after the PNAC plan was published the attacks of 911 occurred; 2) The 911 attacks eased the implementation of the invasion of Iraq, which Bush administration officials had developed detailed plans for long before his (stolen) election in 2000,  3) The 911 attacks eased the implementation of the U.S. military's plan to overthrow seven countries (Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Lebanon, and Iran), The plan was outlined by retired general Wesley Clarke:

and 4) The 911 attacks eased the implementation of Israel's so-called "Oded Yinon Plan" which, among other things, envisioned the "dissolution" of Iraq, Syria and other Middle Eastern nations through the exploitation of ethnic and religious divisions. The Yinon plan has two basic premises: "To survive, Israel must 1) become an imperial regional power, and 2) must effect the division of the whole area into small states by the dissolution of all existing Arab states":

The mysterious case of the "Dancing Israelis" and its connection (or even lack of connection) to the 911 attacks has been completed buried by the mainstream news media and therefore it has been almost completely scrubbed from the consciousness of most Americans.

Israeli Agents Are Captured in Mexico's Congressional Building With Arms and Explosives

Guersson Smecke and Saur Ben Zvi were caught inside of a legislative building in Mexico with arms and explosives. They were captured on October 10th — almost one month to the day after the 911 attacks.

Smecke and Zvi turned out to be Israeli agents and were posing as press photographers. It has been suggested the pair were on a terror attack mission to spread the fear and horror of the 911 attacks across the border to Mexico. Both Smecke and Zvi were released to the Israel Embassy after five days of intense pressure on the Mexican government.

The Strange Collapse of World Trade Center Building 7

Hours After The Twin Towers Fell, World Trade Center Building 7 Also Collapsed — Even Though The Building Was Not Hit By An Airplane.

In an interview with PBS, World Trade Center lease holder Larry Silverstein said he gave the OK to bring down World Trade Center Building 7. The 47-story steel-framed structure collapsed hours after the demise of the twin towers, even though the building was not hit by an airplane. During the interview Silverstein used the term "Pull It" — a term that's widely used in the demolition industry.  Silverstein later claimed he meant "pull the firemen and emergency workers out of the building."

Clearly WTC 7 appears to have been brought down by what is called a "controlled demolition" via the use of explosives. Independent researchers have noted that WTC 7 fell at almost free-fall speed, which can only happen if all sections of the steel frame failed at the same time - impossible without the use of explosives. Here's an example of a "controlled demolition" provided by the YouTube channel Architecture and Engineering:

Sometimes It can take days, weeks or even months to prepare a steel-framed building of the size of WTC 7 for demolition. This could only mean that explosives were placed in the building long before 9/11.  Keep in mind that fire has never caused a steel-framed skyscraper to collapse in the entire history of building skyscrapers. Yet it appears to have happened three times in one day on 9/11.

Members of the corporate and so-called "progressive" media don't want to talk about the destruction of WTC 7 or the Larry Silverstein interview.  Proving once again that most of the so-called "journalists" who work within corporate and "progressive" media are virtually useless to American citizens during national emergencies of this type.

The Israeli 'Art Student' Mystery

For almost two years, hundreds of young Israelis—falsely claiming to be art students—haunted federal offices, in particular, the DEA. No one knows why — and no one seems to want to find out.

“One defense site you can explain,” a former Defense Department analyst told Werner. “Thirty-six? That’s a pattern.” Ominously, the analyst concluded that such activity suggested a terrorist organization “scouting out potential targets and … looking for targets that would be vulnerable.”

In January 2001, the security branch of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency began to receive a number of peculiar reports from DEA field offices across the country. According to the reports, young Israelis claiming to be art students and offering artwork for sale had been attempting to penetrate DEA offices for over a year. The Israelis had also attempted to penetrate the offices of other law enforcement and Department of Defense agencies. Strangest of all, the “students” had visited the homes of numerous DEA officers and other senior federal officials.

As a pattern slowly emerged, the DEA appeared to have been targeted in what it called an “organized intelligence gathering activity.” But to what end, and for whom, no one knew.

Reports of the mysterious Israelis with an inexplicable interest in peddling art to G-men came in from more than 40 U.S. cities and continued throughout the first six months of 2001. Agents of the DEA, ATF, Air Force, Secret Service, FBI, and U.S. Marshals Service documented some 130 separate incidents of “art student” encounters. Some of the Israelis were observed diagramming the inside of federal buildings. Some were found carrying photographs they had taken of federal agents. One was discovered with a computer printout in his luggage that referred to “DEA groups.”

In some cases, the Israelis visited locations not known to the public — areas without street addresses, for example, or DEA offices not identified as such — leading authorities to suspect that information had been gathered from prior surveillance or perhaps electronically, from credit cards and other sources. One Israeli was discovered holding banking receipts for substantial sums of money, close to $180,000 in withdrawals and deposits over a two-month period. A number of the Israelis resided for a period of time in Hollywood, Fla. — the small city where Mohammed Atta and three terrorist comrades lived for a time before Sept. 11.

Redacted DEA Report on the Israeli 'Art Students'

In March 2001, the Office of the National Counterintelligence Executive (NCIX), a branch of the CIA, issued a heads-up to federal employees about “suspicious visitors to federal facilities.” The warning noted that “employees have observed both males and females attempting to bypass facility security and enter federal buildings.” Federal agents, the warning stated, had “arrested two of these individuals for trespassing and discovered that the suspects possessed counterfeit work visas and green cards.”

In the wake of the NCIX bulletin, federal officials raised several other red flags, including an Air Force alert, a Federal Protective Services alert, an Office of National Drug Control Policy security alert and a request that the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) investigate a specific case. Officials began dealing more aggressively with the “art students.” According to one account, some 140 Israeli nationals were detained or arrested between March 2001 and Sept. 11, 2001. Many of them were deported. According to the INS, the deportations resulted from violations of student visas that forbade the Israelis from working in the United States. (In fact, Salon has established that none of the Israelis were enrolled in the art school most of them claimed to be attending; the other college they claimed to be enrolled in does not exist.) After the Sept. 11 attacks, many more young Israelis — 60, according to one AP dispatch and other reports — were detained and deported.

The “art students” followed a predictable modus operandi. They generally worked in teams, typically consisting of a driver, who was the team leader, and three or four subordinates. The driver would drop the “salespeople” off at a given location and return to pick them up some hours later. The “salespeople” entered offices or approached agents in their offices or homes. Sometimes they pitched their artwork — landscapes, abstract works, homemade pins and other items they carried about in portfolios. At other times, they simply attempted to engage agents in conversation. If asked about their studies, they generally said they were from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem or the University of Jerusalem (which does not exist). They were described as “aggressive” in their sales pitch and “evasive” when questioned by wary agents. The females among them were invariably described as “very attractive” — “blondes in tight shorts or jeans, real lookers,” as one DEA agent put it to Salon. “They were flirty, flipping the hair, looking at you, smiling. ‘Hey, how are you? Let me show you this.’ Everything a woman would do if she wanted to get something out of you.” Some agents noted that the “students” made repeated attempts to avoid facility security personnel by trying to enter federal buildings through back doors and side entrances. On several occasions, suspicious agents who had been visited at home observed the Israelis after the “students” departed and noted that they did not approach any of the neighbors.

The document detailing most of this information was an internal DEA memo: a 60-page report drawn up in June 2001 by the DEA’s Office of Security Programs. The document was meant only for the eyes of senior officials at the Justice Department (of which the DEA is adjunct), but it was leaked to the press as early as December 2001 and by mid-March had been made widely available to the public.

On the face of it, this was a blockbuster tale, albeit a bizarre and cryptic one, full of indeterminate leads and fascinating implications and ambiguous answers: “Like a good Clancy novel,” as one observer put it. Was it espionage? Drug dealing? An intelligence game? The world s wackiest door-to-door hustle? Yet the mainstream media has almost entirely ignored the allegations or accepted official “explanations” that explain nothing. Even before the DEA memo was leaked, however, some reporters had begun sniffing around the remarkable story.

On Oct. 1 of last year, Texas newswoman Anna Werner, of KHOU-TV in Houston, told viewers about a “curious pattern of behavior” by people with “Middle Eastern looks” claiming to be Israeli art students. “Government guards have found those so-called students,” reported Werner, “trying to get into [secure federal facilities in Houston] in ways they’re not supposed to — through back doors and parking garages.” Federal agents, she said, were extremely “concerned.” The “students” had showed up at the DEA’s Houston headquarters, at the Leland Federal Building in Houston, and even the federal prosecutor’s office; they had also appeared to be monitoring the buildings. Guards at the Earle Cabell Federal Building in Dallas found one “student” wandering the halls with a floor plan of the site. Sources told Werner that similar incidents had occurred at sites in New York, Florida, and six other states, “and even more worrisome, at 36 sensitive Department of Defense sites.”

“One defense site you can explain,” a former Defense Department analyst told Werner. “Thirty-six? That’s a pattern.” Ominously, the analyst concluded that such activity suggested a terrorist organization “scouting out potential targets and … looking for targets that would be vulnerable.”

Post-9/11, this should have been the opening thrust in an orgy of coverage, and the scoop of a lifetime for Werner: Here she d gotten a glimpse into a possible espionage ring of massive proportions, possibly of terrorists scouting new targets for jihad — and those terrorists were possibly posing as Israelis. KHOU s conclusions were wrong — these weren t Arab terrorists — but at the time no one knew better. And yet the story died on the vine. No one followed up.

Just about the same time that KHOU was stabbing in the dark, reporter Carl Cameron of the Fox News Channel was beginning an investigation into the mystery of the art students that would ultimately light the way into altogether different terrain. In a four-part series on Fox s “Special Report With Brit Hume” that aired in mid-December, Cameron reported that federal agents were investigating the “art student” phenomenon as a possible arm of Israeli espionage operations tracking al-Qaida operatives in the United States. Yes, you read that right: a spy ring that may have been trailing al-Qaida members in the weeks and months before Sept. 11 — a spy ring that according to Cameron s sources may have known about the preparations for the Sept. 11 attacks but failed to share this knowledge with U.S. intelligence. One investigator told Cameron that “evidence linking these Israelis to 9/11 is classified. I cannot tell you about evidence that has been gathered. It’s classified information.”

According to Cameron, some 60 Israeli nationals had been detained in the anti-terrorism/immigrant sweeps in the weeks after Sept. 11, and at least 140 Israelis identified as “art students” had been detained or arrested in the prior months. Most of the 60 detained after Sept. 11 had been deported, Cameron said. “Some of the detainees,” reported Cameron, “failed polygraph questions when asked about alleged surveillance activities against and in the United States.” Some of them were on active military duty. (Military service is compulsory for all young Israelis.) Cameron was careful to note that there was “no indication that the Israelis were involved in the 9/11 attacks” and that while his reporting had dug up “explosive information,” none of it was necessarily conclusive. Cameron was simply airing the wide-ranging speculations in an ongoing investigation.

The Mysterious Case of the 'American Al-Qaeda'

The photographs below depict two examples of "American Al-Qaeda."  The various photos on the top left side are of "American Al-Qaeda" Adam Yahiye Gadahn who was labeled the "media wiz" for Al Qaeda by America's corporate media.. Gadahn turned out to be Adam Pearlman (bottom left), the Jewish grandson of Carl Pearlman, a prominent urologist and board member of the Anti-Defamation League.

The various photos on the top right side are photos of the fiery Yusef al-Khattab, another "American Al-Qaeda" who became known for his website which featured anti-Semitic articles, photographs, and videos. He also organized anti-Israeli protests in New York City. Al-Khattab turned out to be Joseph Leonard Cohen (bottom right), a Jewish man who at the time was a pedicab (bicycle taxi) driver in New York City.

al-Khattab was based in the United States and he now says he was a sincere convert to Islam who lost his way and became radicalized. He was sentenced to prison for two and a half years for using his web site to incite violence. Gadahn is believed to have relocated to Pakistan, where he became famous for his pro al-Qaeda videos. He was indicted by the United States government for the capital crime of treason and was mistakenly reported to have been assassinated (via U.S. drone strikes) as well as arrested on more than one occasion.

The Mysterious Case of the Censored 28 Pages of the Senate's and House's Joint Inquiry Into the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001

Families of those killed in the 911 attacks have been calling for the release of 28 pages censored from the U.S. Congress' Joint Inquiry Into the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001. The 28 pages reportedly suggest the involvement of foreign governments in the attack.

Upon seeing the 28 redacted pages for themselves, Both Senators Bob Graham and then Senator Richard Shelby indicated "surprise" by what they saw but couldn't elaborate (even members of congress are not allowed to reveal what the 28 classified pages contain). More recently, Representative Thomas Massie expressed "shock" at what he saw within the 28 pages.

It has been speculated that the 29 redacted pages implicate Saudi Arabia in the 911 terror attacks. But would any member of the U.S. congress be "surprised" if elements within Saudi Arabia were behind the 911 attacks, given Saudi advocacy of Wahhabism (an extreme interpretation of Islam), given that most of the 911 "hijackers" were Saudi and given Osama bin Laden himself was Saudi? And would any member of the U.S. congress be "surprised" if Pakistan was involved in 911, given its documented support of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, and its years of providing a safe haven for Osama bin Laden?

Since it seems doubtful any knowledgeable member of congress would be "surprised" or "shocked" if elements of the Pakistan or Saudi Arabian governments were involved in the 911 attacks, some independent researchers suggest the 28 redacted pages of the report implicate not only Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, but perhaps Israel as well.

Families Demand Release of Classified 2002 Report Detailing Foreign-Government Support for the September 11 Hijackers

A secret 9/11 history exists - one that the few who know it say names at least one foreign country that provided support to some of the 19 hijackers on their murderous mission 13-years ago on Thursday.

Twenty-eight pages from an official 2002 report detailing foreign-government assistance to the September 11 attackers remain classified. Determined 9/11 family members and sympathetic congressmen are pushing hard, however, for the long-awaited release of the missing history of one of the United States' greatest tragedies.

The controversial information is contained in the House-Senate Intelligence Committees' Joint Inquiry. The section on "specific sources of foreign support" was classified by former president George W Bush for national security reasons.

Bush received his share of flak for the move, but critics have also denounced President Barack Obama, who reportedly told several 9/11 family members he would declassify the 28 pages - but years later has still failed to do so. Observers say the American public - and 9/11 family members in particular - deserve to know what the missing chapter reveals.

The 28 pages can be read by members of Congress who ask permission from leaders of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees. Once authorised, the politicians are led by intelligence officers to a special sound-proof room to read the redacted chapter. An officer remains present the entire time, ensuring that no notes are taken. No specific details from the 28 pages can be divulged to the public.

Congressman Massie has described the classified chapter as "shocking".

"I had to stop every couple pages and just sort of absorb, and try to rearrange my understanding of history for the past 13 years, and years leading up to that," he told a press conference earlier this year.

"It challenges you to rethink everything."

Steven Aftergood monitors government secrecy for the Federation of American Scientists. He told Al Jazeera while the information might negatively affect US foreign relations, the importance of shedding light on the September 11 attacks takes precedence.

Israel Flagged as Top Security Threat to US - According to New NSA Whistleblower Document

Israel was singled out in 2007 as a top espionage threat against the U.S. government, including its intelligence services, in a newly published National Security Agency (NSA) document obtained by fugitive leaker Edward Snowden, according to a news report Monday.

The document also identified Israel, along with North Korea, Cuba and India, as a “leading threat” to the infrastructure of U.S. financial and banking institutions.
The threats were listed in the NSA’s 2007 Strategic Mission List, according to the document obtained by journalist/activist Glenn Greenwald, a founding editor of The Intercept, an online magazine that has a close relationship with Snowden, a former NSA and CIA contractor who fled the U.S. with thousands of top-secret documents last year.

In this new document, Israel was identified by the NSA as a security threat in several areas, including “the threat of development of weapons of mass destruction” and “delivery methods (particularly ballistic and nuclear-capable cruise missiles).” The NSA also flagged Israel’s “WMD and missile proliferation activities” and “cruise missiles” as threats.
