Freddie Gray's Mother Hospitalized After Suicide Attempt — Her Son Was Recently Murdered by Police

When Freddie Gray was arrested he was conscious and walking with a limp (top). By the time he arrived
at the hospital he had spinal injuries, was in critical condition and had to be placed in an induced coma.
He eventually died of his injuries.

The mother of Freddie Gray, whose death in police custody sparked unrest in Baltimore, tried to commit suicide Wednesday night, according to a report.

Gloria Darden sustained superficial wounds and was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation after the suicide attempt, according to CBS affiliate WJZ.

Her son, 25, was arrested April 12, and was injured while forced to ride without a seatbelt in a police van. He died a week later, triggering unrest in the city.
